Claude Desktop - CDD Vault integration

The integration between CDD Vault and your Claude Desktop Pro/Enterprise account is available as an early release. The integration is provided as a one-click install bundle (.mcpb) for Claude Desktop.

Broader distribution is in the works, reach out to CDD Support to receive this early release and receive regular updates.

The CDD Vault Claude Connector is an optional, no-cost integration that allows a CDD Vault user to access their CDD Vault data by providing Claude with a CDD Vault API Token/Key. By using the connector, you expose CDD Vault data via an API Token/Key to Claude/Anthropic. If the API key you provide has write privileges, the Claude Desktop connector can create, modify, and/or delete data in your CDD Vault. This may result in Claude providing instructions to CDD Vault in ways the user may not explicitly request; such changes may be irreversible.

Your use of Claude is governed by your agreement with Anthropic, not by CDD. Anthropic is not a CDD subprocessor or service provider for this connector unless separately agreed in writing between CDD and your organization. You are responsible for ensuring you are authorized to use Claude with your CDD Vault data and for complying with your organization’s policies, applicable law, export controls, confidentiality obligations, and Anthropic’s terms. The connector is provided as-is, without warranties, support commitments, uptime commitments, or liability beyond the terms of your existing CDD Vault agreement. You are responsible for safeguarding, limiting, rotating, and revoking API keys and for independently verifying Claude outputs.

By entering your API Token/Key, you acknowledge and agree to the above.

Connect your Claude AI assistant directly to CDD Vault

Ask questions, pull data, and drive day-to-day Vault work in natural language with no programming skills required.

Complete API coverage

This integration provides access to the full breadth of API features available within CDD Vault. So users can use this integration to search, read, create, update, import, export, etc across all data within CDD Vault from a single AI chat.

Works across the full Vault data model

Use your Claude AI agent to facilitate API access to all CDD Vault data, including molecules, batches, protocols, runs, readouts, ELN entries, collections, projects, plates, sample inventory, saved searches, registration forms, systems, dose-response plots, imports (slurps), exports, files, users, vaults, etc.

Guided usage

This connector enhances the AI with built-in guidance for common workflows such as registering new compounds, running imports, filtering readouts, or handling large result sets. This should ensure you get correct, predictable behavior out of the box. You must however be aware that LLMs such as Claude are recent technologies that are not perfect, and can be confidently wrong or misleading. Make sure to always have a human in the loop to verify and control the outputs.

Bring your own API Token/Key

The Claude Desktop AI integration with CDD Vault requires a user's API Token (Key) and provides the same level of access to the data within the user's CDD Vault as they have when logging in to the CDD Vault via the GUI. We highly recommend using a read-only API Token or a restricted user account to limit what the AI integration can do within your Vault. As a further security feature, the Claude integration will, by default, prompt for confirmation before running any task.

Installation Notes

Once you receive the ZIP file from CDD Support, unzip the file and drag/drop it into your Claude Desktop Pro/Enterprise application.

Examples

Assistance for chemical structure based searches:

The user asks: Find moleculs in my "natural products" vault that are similar to amarogentin. Claude responds by creating a table of the 304 similar molecule founds, analysis of the biosynthetic pathways and parameters like molecular weight and HBD/HBA and provides links to the molecule. It then talks about the most representative ones.
Asking Vault-Claude to search for molecules by similarity

Assistance for protocol data analysis and report generation:

Asking for specific bioassay results to find problematic compounds

Generating a report from a complex request about problematic compounds
